Roguelike chess in a living forge. Beat bosses who break the rules, and forge relics that change how your pieces move.
Each army starts with its own pieces, relic and tool.
Pick one
Pick a piece to upgrade.
Climb three acts of the forge. On the map, pick a path of rooms: battles, tougher elites, the forge (upgrade a piece), the market, mysteries and rest. Each act ends with a boss. You have 3 Crowns: losing a battle costs one. Lose them all and the run ends.
Your gold pieces move like chess pieces, on a small board. You always move first. You win if the enemy leader is checkmated, has no move at all, or has no guards left. The same rules apply to you.
Tap a piece to see its moves. Gold dots are safe squares, orange dots are squares the enemy can hit, and red rings are captures. Tap an enemy piece to see where it can go. The eye button shows every square the enemy attacks.
After a set number of turns the forge judges: whoever has more material wins (Pawn 1, Knight and Bishop 3, Rook 5, Queen 9).
Captures score points. Capture on turns in a row to build Heat, which multiplies every capture. Fast wins score a bonus.
Relics change the rules for your side: Knights that also step, Pawns that capture forward, extra Crowns and more. Tools are one-use and do not spend your turn. The forge turns a Pawn into a Brazier, a Knight into a Warhorse, a Bishop into a Seer, a Rook into a Bastion and a Queen into a Phoenix.
Each boss is a giant leader with its own moves and a rule of its own, shown before the fight and on the chips at the top of the screen.
Tap or drag pieces. On a keyboard: Esc pauses, T toggles threats, 1-3 use tools, Z takes back (with the Rewind Cog).
